About Tigh a Phailean

Tigh a Phailean, Letterfearn is a in a truly peaceful setting and makes the perfect base for exploring the Highlands of Scotland and the local countyside. There is lots to see and do for all ages - climbing in the nearby Five Sisters of Kintail, mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, sea trips (including Glass Bottom Boat Trips at nearby Kyle of Lochalsh), horse riding, photography etc. It is of course a walkers paradise, only to be seen to be believed.
Visit the romantic Eilean Donan Castle (the most photographed castle in Scotland), or carry on the road towards Balmacara or onto the beautiful, enigmatic Eilean a'Cheo (This Misty Isle) or Isle of Skye as it is better known.
Visit the picturesque villages of Plockton, Applecross, Ullapool and Gairloch which are all within easy reach. Take the pass over the hill to experience some of the most stunning scenery this area has to offer, and visit the pretty village of Glenelg with its Iron Age Brochs, sandy beach, famous Glenelg Inn or travel by ferry to Kylerhea on the Isle of Skye. A day trip to the the National Trust Inverewe Gardens is also a must, as is a boat trip to Loch Coruisk (as seen on the ITV programme, 'Britain's Favourite View').
Take a trip on the Kyle of Lochalsh to Inverness, the capital of the highlands and see some wonderful scenery en route. Inverness offers a large variety of shops, restaurants, theatre and museums. Alternatively, just sit in the garden to catch sight of the otters, badgers, pinemartins, porpoises, deer and other wildlife which are regular visitors to Glenshiel. This is the perfect location for unwinding from a busy life.
